HHI's ROCK'IN NEW YEARS EVE MORN

By Your Athletic Supporter & Score-Keeper, Jack Strap

There was a Fortuitous 14 Hoopsters turn-out for HHI's ROCK'IN NEW YEARS EVE MORN with HHI Veterans Hacker Bob & Mighty Kerr selected as the Captains, and then they in turn selected these "last game of the season, so can't hold anything back" squads:
  • Hacker-Backers = Boo Pong, Scholesinator, What the Heck, Alan "The Question" I-Vath-son, DJ Jazzy Jones, Quick Mike, and Captain Hacker
  • Fighty-Mighties = Swoop, Iron, Kutztown WR Alex, Diggety Doug Bails, X-Smoker Bob, Stay-Puff Marsh-mellow Man, and Captain Mighty
Game#1 of the Best of 5 Games ROCK'IN NEW YEARS EVE MORN Series saw Boo Pong shooting like it was Beer Pong as he led the Hacker-Backers with 5 points including a deuce, although it was Quick "Who Needs Meniscus" Mike's 2-pointer that won it for them by an impressive 15-7 margin after which Captain Hacker was getting early accolades for putting together a juggernaut.

Meanwhile for Game 2, Captain Mighty made adjustments including instructing X-Smoker Bob to shoot more (something that Bob has never heard in all his years at HHI) and designing plays to get Iron Mike shots from his favorite spots. It all worked out as X-Smoker responded with 6 points & Iron hit 3 consecutive shots at a critical juncture in leading the Fighty-Mighties to a 15-10 victory.

On to the 3rd game during which DJ appeared to be shooting the Hacker-Backers to the win with (4) deuces, but then The Fighty-Mighties D.D. Bails who by his own estimation came into today needing a point for 1000 in his HHI Career went from 999 to 1001 with a deuce that sparked a comeback that was ultimately capped by X-Smoker's crowd-pleasing 2-ball for their dramatic 15-14 win.

The Hacker-Backers now had their hacker-backs against the wall needing a must-win in Game#4 of HHI's ROCK'IN NEW YEARS EVE MORN Series, so they went to a balanced scoring attack that saw all (7) of their players scoring. Contrarily the Fighty-Mighties hitched their "little red wagon" to Swoop who was a "one-man show" while scoring (9) including the Daily Championship-winning shot.

The Giant Lipper then joined me in the HHI Broadcast Booth for the ROCK'IN NEW YEARS EVE MORN 2010 Finale to 21. This was an entertaining run-and-gun-and-fun game which saw the Fighty-Mighties' Marsh finally break loose for 8 points, but it wasn't enough as Heck's 7 & DJ's 6 led the Hacker-Backers to the 21-15 victory.

Although the Fighty-Mighties won the Daily Championship, for the day they were outscored 73-67 by the Hacker-Backers including D.J. as the HHI's ROCK'IN NEW YEARS EVE MORN's Top-Scorer with 23 points. The scoring derby also saw Swoop with 17, Heck 16, and X-Smoker & Marsh each registering 15 points.

A Happy New Year to All & then HHI moves on to 2011!!

HHI CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

By Your Athletic Supporter, Jack Strap

All of the HHI Schools were there for the HHI CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP including Old School & we also found the Lost Baldwin Brother = Bails, thus they were named Captains. Commissioner Emeritus Collin was also in attendance for The Big Games and he quickly took charge by setting up a "Bad Boy" seat in the corner for the late arriving Quick Mike who the Commish labeled as a "Baby". The stage was then set, so without further adieu--let me announce the HHI CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP starting line-ups:
* School of 30 Rock = Captain Baldwin Bails, Swoop, Iron, Giant Lipper & Your Athletic Supporter
* Old School University (OSU) = Captain Old School Bruce, Tony Rhyme-or-Reason, Scholesinator, Mighty Kerr, and Quick Mike
* No School Rover = Radon Rader

The HHI Church was as loud as it's ever been during the HHI CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP pre-game including the School's famous chants: We Are!!! School of 30 Rock!!! & you say "Old" and we'll say "School", Old!!! School!!! That energy carried over to Game #1 which saw Old School U take the lead & carry it all the way to the 4th quarter before School of 30 Rock led by The Giant Lipper came back to win it at the end 15-13.

Game 2 was another nail-biter during which Commish Collin was so excited he couldn't keep his shoes on and the 3 words that best describe that smell = stink-stank-stunk. Those 3 words also best describe some of the play out there on the court, but it was equally odorous until the Schools were tied at 14. At that point, the Commish's Daddy took matters into his own hands by hitting OSU's winning shot. This tied the Series at 1, although Roving Radon Rader (i.e. Triple R) was win-less.

The Daily Championship (D.C.) Game of the HHI CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP was yet another close game as these teams were evenly matched and eventually they found themselves tied at 13-13 Mockingbird Lane (Home of the Munsters). At that point, School of 30 Rock's "5th Year Seniors" took over. First--Lipper drove the baseline, drew the double-team, and then made a Magic pass to Jack Strap who finished with the left hand with the still jammed finger. Then after Old School U missed a couple deuces for the win, a determined Swoop Swooped to the basket for the HHI CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP DC-winning shot for School of 30 Rock.
